Writing Prompts for the First Week of June
June 1st – Summer is imminent! What do you want to do this summer that you have never done before? And what do you want to make sure you do this summer or you will regret not doing it once fall arrives? (The two aren't necessarily the same.)
June 2nd – Collecting antiques is a favourite pastime of many people. If you had to collect antiques, what kind would you collect and why?
June 3rd – How long do you think you could go without watching TV? How would you fill your time, if televisions became extinct overnight?
June 4th – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a legendary operatic composer. What would you like to be known as a legend for, 200 years after your death and how do you think you could achieve that?
June 5th – Teaching children to be self-sufficient can be challenging. How would you achieve such a lofty goal?
June 6th – 30 years ago, people knew their neighbours. Today this is not the norm. Do you think the change is a good thing or a bad thing? Why?
June 7th – The commercialism of Christmas doesn't sit well with many people. Do you think the holiday season is too commercial? Is there any way to change how commercial it is?
Writing Prompts for the Second Week of June
June 8th – Do you believe some people have more addictive personalities than others? In other words, are some people are more prone to be alcoholics or drug addicts or gamblers than others? What are your thoughts on the subject?
June 9th – In the midst of a major crisis (the plane you are on is about to crash, there is a fire in the building you are in, you are depositing a cheque at the bank when robbers come in at gunpoint, etc.), do you think you would keep a level head or give in to panic? What would you do in such a scenario?
June 10th – If you had to run for political office, any position from the local school board to the city mayor to a world leader, what position would you run for any why? What would be your platform?
June 11th – Cross pollinating fruits and vegetables is becoming more commonplace these days. Consider brocollini (a mix of broccoli and Chinese kale), a tangelo (a hybrid of a tangerine and grapefruit), and an aprium (a cross of plums and apricots). What vegetables would you like to make a hybrid of? What would you do with your new creation?
June 12th – We will all, inevitably, be senior citizens one day. If you are 100% retired, how will you spend your days in order to keep yourself occupied?
June 13th – How can you make your community a safer, cleaner one – a better place to live overall?
June 14th – Some people raise animals for a living and make money by selling the animal's hair, meat, offspring, etc. If you had to raise animals as your only means of income, what animal group would you choose and why?
Writing Prompts for the Third Week of June
June 15th – In modern blockbuster movies, it seems high-tech graphics and massive action scenes have replaced witty, creative, intelligent scripts. Which era of movies do you prefer?
June 16th – Are newspaper journalists biased or do they do a good job of reporting the facts in a neutral way?
June 17th – Will time travel ever be possible? Why or why not?
June 18th – If you could time travel back in time or into the future for one day, what day would you choose to travel to? How would you like the day to play out?
June 19th – Is it tougher to be a teenager in this day and age than it was a generation ago? Why or why not?
June 20th – Do you think you could live better on less money?
June 21st – Do you think men go through menopause?
Writing Prompts for the Fourth Week of June
June 22nd – What job would you love to have? What job would you hate to have?
June 23rd – Do you think there is a link between the foods people eat and the incidence of cancer? Do you think eating processed food affects your body?
June 24th – Should men and women be drafted into the military if soldiers are needed or should it be strictly volunteer?
June 25th – What happens to your soul when you die? Do you believe in reincarnation?
June 26th – What game show would you like to be a contestant on? How well do you think you would do?
June 27th – Do you think it is important to have heroes in our society? Do we as a collective people look up to heroes?
June 28th – In the 1850 novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter, adulterers have to wear a red 'A' as a badge of shame for the sin they committed. If that happened in modern times, what percentage of adults do you believe would be walking around with a red 'A' on their lapel? How would this figure differ from adults 150 years ago?
Writing Prompts for the Last Few Days in June
June 29th – In our fast-paced world, not as many people curl up with a good book. How can we encourage people to read for pleasure again?
June 30th – Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets? Why?
